Local rules and grants
- In Overijse, felling a tree with a trunk girth over 30 cm (measured at 1 m) needs authorisation from the municipality (municipal regulation of 1987).
- Overijse scrapped its municipal grants for rainwater tanks and green roofs on 1 January 2026; the provincial regulation still requires rainwater from new paving that needs a permit to stay on the plot.
- Steep slopes and loamy soil send water running down into the IJse and Lasne valleys: a sloping driveway has to be designed together with its drainage.
