What to know in Halle
Halle is in Flanders, in Flemish Brabant. Works exempt from a permit follow the exemption decree (vrijstellingsbesluit); the simple notification procedure (melding) was abolished on 1 March 2026. Planning permission is applied for on the Omgevingsloket.
Local rules and grants
- In Halle, since May 2024 the town has applied a framework that keeps at least half of a detached house’s front garden unpaved, and requires permeable materials for more than 40 m² of terrace or driveway in the back garden.
- The town does not allow tree felling from 1 March to 1 July and can require a replacement tree with a 14-16 cm girth to be planted.
- The Senne flooded Lembeek and the centre of Halle in November 2010: drainage and infiltration are not minor details here.
